The gemba walk or as some others know it to be, the waste walk is an important tool to have in any lean leader's tool box. The gemba walk is a process where a cross-functional team goes to the gemba, which of course is a japanese word that translates to "work place" so when we say "go to the gemba" we are actually saying "go to the work place." Why use japanese words? Well, really just because the concept was developed there, that's all. But this tool is a critical part to continuous daily improvement and managing for daily improvement. Be sure to learn more about it and put it to use at your facilities!
